| Affiliation | World Martial Arts Tournament entrants; later deputized alongside the Secret Service |
| First appearance | Philosopher's Fist |
Overview¶
The group is strictly vanilla humans, with martial-arts technique and ki and nothing else. They argue that no pure human martial artist has ever taken over the world and killed the president, and that the president and his party have always preferred a defender like them to an outsider. Their strategy is to work with the police and the Secret Service, so that the tournament is not canceled and they cement themselves as "the stable, responsible heroes." They expect the other champions, the "freaks," to be shot by the Secret Service. (Philosopher's Fist)
History¶
Mirabeth eavesdrops on them after the briefing, and they break off when they notice her ("Can I help you, Mirabeth?"). She says she has lost an earring. At the Presidential Event Hall the next morning, they are mixed in among the Secret Service, apparently deputized to protect the president. An older, heavyset woman monk among them recognizes Mirabeth and stares at her. After Mirabeth rolls a 12 on Pierce the Mask, the monk's shoulders slump, and she lets it pass and has a word with the other monks. Mirabeth also worries that they will deal with Ovain before she and Derk can. (Philosopher's Fist)
