Red Dutchford¶
Red Dutchford is the name a Pay n' Stay guest in a fishing hat and heavy coat registered under, a man who drove a brown station wagon and stayed in the motel for only a few hours on the day the team's belongings were disturbed.

Description¶
According to the night clerk Rutherford, the guest wore a big fishing hat, sunglasses and a heavy coat. He checked in around 2 p.m., took a room on the far side of the building, rolled up in a brown station wagon, left no contact information and was seen leaving that evening. The clerk assumed he was a prostitute (Radford Horror 04).
History¶
The Biz asks Rutherford whether anyone has been around the motel, because the agents' belongings had been shifted while they were out; the cleaning service had not come that day. Rutherford volunteers the fishing-hat guest and, on the Biz's prompting, says he signed in as "Red Dutchford" (Radford Horror 04).
The players notice that Dr. Lori drives a brown station wagon, and the Biz describes the doctor to Rutherford: five foot seven or eight, with a beard, mustache and brown hair. Rutherford says the man had facial hair and brown hair and was neither particularly tall nor short, but does not recognize the description as anyone local. Zack points out that station wagons of the era were almost all brown.
Kurt bump-keys the far-side room (Act Under Pressure, with a Help roll from Andrew, who keeps the clerk talking until about two in the morning). The room had never been lived in and had been wiped down, but not thoroughly, and Kurt lifts a partial fingerprint, which the team plans to compare against prints from Lori's office. Earlier, the windowsill of the team's own room had yielded only glove prints (Radford Horror 04).
Trivia¶
- Dutchford is never mentioned again after Radford Horror 04, and it is never established who searched the team's rooms. The players wonder whether it was Dr. Lori, but nothing confirms it.
