Plymouth Voyager¶
The Plymouth Voyager is the wood-panelled 1990 rental minivan that the task force collects in Salt Lake City, which stalls at dusk at the Sherman Ranch, is lifted away overnight, and turns up wrecked and magnetized in Roosevelt. (Walkers 02, Walkers 04)

Description¶
Andrew Howard books the rental. Andre lists a Ford Escort, a Toyota Camry, a Plymouth Voyager and two Jeep Cherokees; Rita asks for the closest thing to a minivan, and the team gets a 1990 Voyager, recognizable by its "plastic wood." It is found in a parking lot in Salt Lake City around noon, with Howard holding the keys. (Walkers 02) The table jokes about the Plymouth Voyager III concept car and the Gigahorse, and Dante recalls the van the team rolled in Texas. (Walkers 02) The rental company later complains to the team about the car. (Walkers 04)
History¶
The dusk event. In Walkers 03, at dusk on October 30, 1992, the Voyager dies about 50 feet from the ranch gate and every electronic device in it goes dead; only Andrew's pager still works. The sky pulses, and the team retreats into the car, which they call a Faraday cage. The car moves six inches sideways, there is a popping noise, the engine restarts, and the sky stops flickering. Scorch marks are later found inside the engine body. (Walkers 03) See the dusk event.
The disappearance. In Walkers 04 the Voyager's alarm and lights go off with nothing visible nearby. By morning the van is gone: one set of tire tracks leads to the parking spot and none lead away. Huell's Investigate a Mystery (10) shows it most likely went straight up, and the ground where it stood is at about 200 degrees. The ranch footage shows only an unconvincing patch of grey rising (see Bigelow's recordings). (Walkers 04) See the vanishing car incident.
The wreck. Traffic is backed up on East Lagoon Street in Roosevelt, where the Voyager is pancaked about a foot thick, fused into a slight crater in the roadway. Huell's second Investigate a Mystery (6) fails, and Kurt infers the flattening came from a drop. The map in the glove compartment and Kurt's Vietnam-era stilts are lost. The Roosevelt police arrange a flatbed and the loaner Betsy, and Huell's Help Out (double sixes, 15) lets him lift the wreck free of the asphalt with his back, although 10 to 20 percent of the car stays fused in the road. (Walkers 04)
Examination. By Walkers 05 the wreck has been towed to the Roosevelt police garage, where it stands on its side against a wall. From the glove box the officers have recovered the license and registration and a Best of Queen tape. Kurt finds the car magnetic, which it was not when parked. His examination suggests all of the damage came from impact with the ground at terminal velocity, and that it landed upside down. The upholstery is slightly melted, and an officer remarks that the car "kinda smells like coyote pee." Rita's Andrew offers "UFO" and concludes that "Car got abducted. They didn't want it, though." The officer instead suggests a local junkyard owner with a car crusher and a magnetic crane, which sends the team to Yusuf Ansari in later episodes. (Walkers 05)
Trivia¶
- The table's running gag is lost rentals: "we are not being very good with rentals lately," and Ezra's Biz notes that every car he has driven in the state has been turned into a pancake. (Walkers 04)
