Description

Carter never appears onscreen. He is a former CIA fixer, now an overseas arms dealer who spends much time in the United States. Kurt worked with him for about five years. Kurt does not know whether "Carter" is a first or last name; all he knows is that the man's first name is Jimmy. Iran-Contra was Carter's idea, and it ended both his and Kurt's careers (Summer Service 04).

History

The Summer Service

After the dive to the stealth wreck, Kurt phones an old weapons contact for something big enough to kill the "glowy ring" and offers options such as a Davy Crockett, a MOAB, a MOP or an anti-materiel rifle. The contact is not named in this episode. He promises a deniable weapon "in a day or two," with serial numbers filed off and the item deleted from inventory, and says hello to Kurt's wife. Andre (as Carter) tells Kurt: "You didn't get this from me. You don't know me. In fact, I don't exist." Kurt reminds him of an earlier conversation about "if I ever had to shoot Godzilla" (Summer Service 03).

The next session opens with a recap that identifies the contact as Carter, a CIA fixer Kurt knew and once saved the life of. Dante burns one of Kurt's Luck points, at the GM's offer, for "a really good weapon that is potentially more inconvenient and dangerous." Without the Luck burn, the GM says, it would have been a Scorpion (Summer Service 04).

Carter's courier, an unnamed man (Andre) in a military-surplus armored truck outside the Marblehead post office, delivers a 7x4x4 ft crate. He says Carter sends his love, this is the last one, and after it they are even. The crate holds an M28 Davy Crockett with one W54 warhead. Carter has welded on an aftermarket coincidence rangefinder and filed off the serial numbers, rewriting them in Sharpie. The courier leaves quickly, saying the town creeps him out (Summer Service 04).
