Overview

In Summer Service 03 Andre spells out the chain of command, which he calls unusual. Andrew Howard reports to Big Bill, "who's the head of the Foreign Influence Task Force, since it was determined that alien visitations are foreign by definition." Nelson reports to Floyd Clark, the FBI's deputy director, and Clark reports to George H. W. Bush. Everything in the team's reports is classified under the code word SKYHOOK. Zack asks whether Clark is "just like the contemporary Hoover"; Andre says he is not the director, but is the deputy director. Big Bill has a lot of sway within the FBI, and if he escalates a request to Clark, that carries weight across the government (Summer Service 03). The player characters' own unit is the Paranatural Incident Task Force.

Members

  • Big Bill: head. He answers calls with "Hello, this is Big Bill Nelson. What can I do for you?" and, when Andrew says it feels weird to call him Big Bill, tells him "Sir's fine" (Summer Service 03).
  • Floyd Clark: FBI deputy director above Nelson, mentioned only (Summer Service 03).
  • Big Bill's secretary: an unnamed man who takes Kurt Larson's request to have Ma Gramoire's National Guard son Jordan assigned to the deployment (Summer Service 03).

History

During the Marblehead case Andrew briefs Big Bill on the dive, the stealth wreck with a bite out of it and the humming craft, and adds the cult, the spherical diamonds and the communion wine. Big Bill says there is "a serious counterintelligence situation ongoing" and that the national security concerns come first. He says he will take it to the Oval Office and try to retask national security assets to look at the wreck with better instruments, and he orders the team to find the missing scientists before the National Guard arrives (Summer Service 03). In later sessions he sends the Guard, retasks a Los Angeles-class submarine, and agrees on the "terrorists" cover story, although those sessions do not name the task force (Summer Service 04; Summer Service 06).
