Marblehead police¶
The Marblehead police are the town's hostile local force, suspected by the task force of the lighthouse interrogation and the bug left there, and aligned with the Sons of Adam cult when it besieges the task force's hotel in The Summer Service.

Overview¶
The police are never friendly. The case file given to the task force in Radford Horror 08 says that local law enforcement has been unresponsive and not helpful, "suspiciously so." In Summer Service 03, when Huell asks for police support and a forensics examiner at the abandoned house, Kurt Larson insists: "let our guys look at it before the hometown cops do. They seem like maybe they're not on the level." The team later agrees not to use the police radio (Summer Service 03).
Members¶
The only member identified is the Chief of Police, who is also a selectman; see Marblehead Board of Selectmen. The other officers are not named.
History¶
The Summer Service¶
The lighthouse. At the lighthouse, Kurt finds a walkie-talkie of the kind local police departments use, with its button taped down. The team concludes that it was a bug and speaks carefully near it; see Police walkie-talkie. The blood trail in the basement led to where a car would park, but the episodes never say who carried out the interrogation. On leaving, Andrew notices the end of a squad car, and Kurt calls the lighthouse "an active trap" (Summer Service 03; Summer Service 04).
The chief. At the selectmen's meeting the chief glares at Jester, refuses Kurt's request to smoke, and goes very still when the team brings up the melted shoreline. The mayor tells him to look into it. Andre tells the players that they have grounds to arrest the chief for concealing evidence of a crime (Summer Service 04).
Ignoring Arnold. Madeline Weathers tells the team that the police did nothing when she reported her uncle missing, and that she thinks they are "all fucking involved" (Summer Service 05).
The siege. Around 4 a.m. in Summer Service 05, a police car pulls up at the team's hotel while silent, armed church members gather in the rain; a second car arrives later. Huell sees the first cop car pass him on the road and calls the FBI switchboard from a payphone: "I think the local police are trying to form a posse to murder us." Police come up the stairs as the team escapes through the second-floor bathroom window into the alley (Summer Service 05).
Aftermath. The Guard takes command of the town in Summer Service 06. The episodes do not say what happened to the police.
