Radford woods predators

The Radford woods predators are the unidentified killers glimpsed in the cold open of Radford Horrors 01, which hunt the missing FBI team through the snowy woods: a shape that drains a man to a skeleton, a swooping flier and a mind-turned agent.

Description

The cold open shows three separate things (Radford Horrors 01):

  • The flying thing: a flier that swoops over the fleeing agents and picks them off one by one from above. No clear details are seen.
  • The draining shape: a dim shape hidden in the brush at the edge of the clearing. It lifts an agent and drains him of blood and fat "like a pouch of Capri Sun" until he is nearly skeletal, then tosses him like a ragdoll.
  • The mind-controlled agent: a female agent aims at the shape, goes rigid, her eyes bloodshot and her nose bleeding, and turns her gun on a colleague. Whether the shape or something else compels her is not shown.

Abilities

Flight, a draining attack that leaves the victim skeletal, and an apparent psychic compulsion. (Radford Horrors 01)

History

The attack takes place in the snowy night woods outside Radford, among the hanging figures. The agents wear yellow-lettered jackets and run with bouncing flashlights; one sobs. (Radford Horrors 01)

After the credits, the players conclude that the agents were President Perot's handpicked follow-up team, who went AWOL in Radford (see Missing FBI task force). The cold open implies they were killed. Special Agent Daniel Webster believes the team is dirty and covered something up in Radford. (Radford Horrors 01)

What remains unknown

It is never established whether the predators are related to the Radford Moth, which Andre described as a UFO sighting that turned out to be "just moth," or what the shape and the flier are. (Radford Horrors 01)
