Description

Roulet Estate 03 introduces the camp with a shot of a rotting sign and a subtitle reading "Vorkuta Corrective Labor Camp (abandoned since 1962)". The Biz's cell is freezing stone with a barred window and a slot in the door through which he is fed bread. The breath of the senior officer who visits him is visible in the cold (Roulet Estate 03).

History of events there

After the siege at the Brooks pharmacy, the Biz vanishes from the hospital. Ezra suggested that the Russians had taken him, as a consequence of his past actions, and Andre chose "abducted and still in custody". The camp scene takes place roughly two weeks after the interrogations and regular beatings stopped; since then the Biz has seen only room searches, bread deliveries and the occasional kick. His leg wound was treated at what Andre calls the best hospital in Russia before the torture began (Roulet Estate 03).

The Biz frees his frozen waste bucket from the wall and lives on the bread from the slot. To keep his spirits up he sings unhinged sea shanties, including a parody of the Gilligan's Island theme about a bucket frozen to the icy wall, and talks to a cockroach, addressing it as "Skipper" (Roulet Estate 03).

A senior officer, recognizable by his mustache, looks through the slot with steel eyes. The Biz greets him with a very polite "Welcome, come in" in Russian, and the officer, repulsed, orders (in subtitles) "Get this man on a plane". After a lukewarm shower the Biz is flown first class, handcuffed beside an FSB officer who eats his steak, to Moscow, where he is shackled to a chair in the former Soviet Parliament building and meets Boris Yeltsin, who offers him a cigar (Roulet Estate 03).

Inhabitants

  • Dick "The Biz" Baxter, prisoner.
  • The camp's cruelest guard, whom Andre calls "the kickiest gentleman in this place", and a less aggressive guard the Biz had gotten along with, who is no longer there.
  • The senior officer who orders his removal.
