Description¶
The president is a genial "good old boy" with body hair poking up out of his collar and pronounced canines. Society treats his werewolfism as normal, and he turns into a wolf; Derk thinks of him as a dog and calls him "Mr. Doggy." Derk also keeps assuming that anyone in charge, including Colonel Sparago, must be a werewolf. The president's name is never given. (Philosopher's Fist)
History¶
Twice in forty years a tournament champion has taken over the world and killed the president, so the tournament is on thin ice. The current president is a moderate opponent of it: he has not moved to ban it, but if he had the votes in the World Congress he would certainly not veto a bill. (Philosopher's Fist)
At the Presidential Event Hall, Derk presents him with Derk's Flag. He praises the hot dog as a patriotic food and the taco shell as "multiculturalism right there," is troubled by the giant scorpions "attacking the earth" and, on learning that the dog is him, says privately, off the record, that turning into a dog is "pretty cool." He promises to give the flag "real serious consideration" and gives Derk a presidential-seal sticker to "show that you met me." (Philosopher's Fist)
When Ovain attacks, Mirabeth shields the president with a force field and the Secret Service takes him to a safe room. He survives unhurt, and afterward he is taken on a walk to calm him down. (Philosopher's Fist)
