Abandoned gas station

The abandoned gas station is a disused filling station on the edge of Marblehead where the task force turns the Biz's Buick into a mobile nuclear artillery piece and later hides both the car and McManley's RV from the town.

Description

The station is disused and sits at the edge of town. Its lot has enough shelter from the rain to work on a car for hours, and room to park behind the building, out of sight of the road (Summer Service 04).

History of events there

Summer Service 04

After the courier delivers a crate from Carter outside the post office, Kurt and Huell spend three to four hours at the station mounting the M28 Davy Crockett on the Biz's 1986 Buick Regal. Two tripod legs rest on the long flat trunk and a third goes through a hole cut in the roof. Zack (as Huell) helps with the work, joking that he is "jacked" because of the worms. The other team members run errands (ponchos, trash bags, welding goggles and earplugs) and then meet at the station, where they find "the most conspicuous vehicle any of you have ever seen" (Summer Service 04).

Rather than leave the Buick in view, the team parks it behind the station under a tarp, which Andre allows the players to retcon as having been bought at the hardware store. The roughly sixty-pound W54 warhead goes back to the hotel with the team (Summer Service 04).

Summer Service 05

After the 4 a.m. siege at the hotel, the group considers ditching McManley's RV, which is large, recognizable and handles badly, and retaking the smaller modified car with the Davy Crockett on it. Andre suggests hiding the RV behind the gas station, where the car was left. They abandon the RV there and take the Buick, whose roof hole has been leaking rain so that it has several inches of water on the floor and smells of "hand". They then drive out to meet McManley's borrowed assistant, who is waiting at an intercept point on the freeway on his Vespa, gore-covered, with a pharmacy bag of Ivermectin. He climbs into the cramped car and says, "I hate it here. It sucks so bad." The session ends with the team undecided about taking the drug (Summer Service 05). See McManley's RV.

Unrecorded session

The unrecorded session Summer Service 05.5 falls between Summer Service 05 and the finale. By the finale the Davy Crockett has been taken off the Buick, which Kurt says he is glad of, and the team fires it at the nuclear plant instead (Summer Service 06).
