Description

The intruder is seen only as a non-human moving shadow, much smaller than the Radford Moth, at the left of the front window of the Douglas Pinball Emporium, where the floor has been recently cleaned. It carries the moth's smell and slime. The footage shows it seemingly trying to get out as the door was opened. (Radford Horrors 04)

History

When the overnight maintenance tech Elizabeth George vanishes from the emporium, the team finds a cleaned-up smear of blood and hair, a broken Taser tine and a wiped security tape. Sheila the waitress fixes her diner camera and finds the raid: at about 4 to 5 a.m. a gray van arrives, five men enter, a non-human shadow moves in the window, one man opens the lock, there is a scuffle, and three men carry out two bags before others carry out equipment. (Radford Horrors 04) See Diner security tape and Sheila.

Kurt Larson rolls 10 on Investigate a Mystery and concludes it was an organized paramilitary cleanup team, not military, and that the shadow was not human. The office window, which opens onto the alley, is large enough for a man. Kurt's working theory is that a juvenile moth, or a thrall like "the astronaut kid" (Wilbur Whateley), was in the emporium; the crew came for it; and Elizabeth, who had been repairing a Flash Gordon machine, was caught in the crossfire. (Radford Horrors 04) See Gray van crew.

Opalescent slime found above the emporium window, and earlier in a tree at the Safe Environment Fund site, is to be analyzed by McManley; a sample of the moth goo made Wilbur stiffen. See Pearlescent goo. (Radford Horrors 04)

What remains unknown

  • Whether it was a juvenile moth, a thrall or something else.
  • Where the crew took it, and who employs them; Kurt wonders whether they are tied to the Safe Environment Fund.
  • Elizabeth George's fate. (Radford Horrors 04) See also Moth life cycle.
