Two sets of financial books

The two sets of financial books are a pair of nearly identical sets of town accounts that Huell finds in Arnold Weathers's upstairs bedroom, beside a shoebox of clear marbles.

Type Item (documents)
Aliases Town books
Holder The task force (as of the end of Summer Service 05)
Origin Arnold Weathers' bedroom, Arnold Weathers' house
First appearance Summer Service 05

Description

After the team has dealt with Puddles and Arnold, Zack's character Huell searches the upstairs bedroom and rolls a 9 on Investigate a Mystery. Andre has him ask "what happened here," and he finds a set of financial books for the town. Searching longer, he finds a second set. In the dark the two look almost identical, but not quite. Further on he finds a shoebox in the closet "absolutely full" of the clear marbles. (Summer Service 05)

Properties

The books are never opened on screen, so the differences between the two sets, and whatever they conceal, are never established. The team has no chance to read them before the session ends. Arnold held a seat on the Board of Selectmen, and at the meeting in Summer Service 04 his empty chair was a point of nervous alarm for the other members. The players treat the books and marbles together as evidence tying Arnold to the town leadership's secrets. (Summer Service 04, Summer Service 05)

History

Huell hands the marbles to the Biz and the team carries the two sets of books and the marbles back downstairs. Dante jokes that, synthetic or not, the marbles will let them obliterate the diamond market. Later in the session, while the group argues over the ivermectin, Andre notes that the team successfully brought the books along because they have not yet had a chance to look at them. (Summer Service 05)

The books do not come up again in the recorded episodes, and it is never established what the team did with them.
