Missing agents' map¶
The missing agents' map is a map of the woods around Radford, found in the missing FBI team's abandoned camp, marked with irregular polygons and one illegible scribble.

Description¶
The map shows the woods with a number of irregular polygons drawn over it and an illegible scribble beside the boundary of one of them. It was found in the administrative tent of the missing FBI task force at their campsite at the Sportsman RV Campground (Radford Horrors 02). It is separate from the ordinary tourist map the team had of the area.
Properties¶
The team treated the scribble as the place the missing agents had been heading. The team's own route did not correspond to the polygons at first, but following the new fence they came to an older fence that lined up with one face of a polygon on the map. They reasoned that the newer fence went up after the agents vanished, so the agents had probably gone straight to the scribble (Radford Horrors 02).
History¶
Huell cut open the locked tents and made an Investigate a Mystery roll (11). He found no sign that the agents had left in a hurry, a bag of molding laundry by the clothesline, and accommodations for five agents (two tents, with three cots and two, plus an administrative tent). In the administrative tent he found the map and took it; Andre described it appearing on screen and being put away in the manner of Resident Evil. The agents' car was still in the lot with two shotguns locked in the trunk, and Kurt's luminol found only a nosebleed's worth of blood on a pillow. A radioed report a week earlier had said they were "chasing up some weird stuff" (Radford Horrors 02).
Following the map toward the scribble, the team met an eight-foot chain-link fence topped with barbed wire and wrapped in a printed polymer sheet bearing the Safe Environment Fund logo, with solar lights staked in the trees. The team climbed it, and guards on ATVs confronted them. Webster was tased, Andrew shot a guard in the leg, and the bullet the guard fired at him stopped an inch from his chest (Radford Horrors 02).
At the scribble itself, Kurt found a smell of bleach, patches of dug-up ground and a tree that had been cut down and removed that day. Luminol showed nothing, and Andre told the players that whoever did this was no amateur and that a shootout had probably happened there. The team took samples of the cleaned areas and of the pearlescent goo on a high branch. See also the SEF fenced site and the Safe Environment Fund (Radford Horrors 02).
The fallout was the Bivens lawsuit. In Radford Horrors 03, FBI Director Rudy Giuliani phoned Webster about the fence. He said a Bivens suit was expected, that the FBI was seeking a retroactive warrant to cover the search, and that a formal reprimand was possible if the probable cause claim could not be defended. He added that it would be a different story had the team actually found the missing agents (Radford Horrors 03).
Trivia¶
- The missing agents' fate is not resolved by anything on the map; it only shows where they were headed.
