Description

There is no actual product. Rita says Mirabeth is "entirely pulling out of my butt an essential oil MLM," and Andre, as Addison, calls it "the oil pyramid kit." Mirabeth hands Addison a business card with the pitch. (Philosopher's Fist)

History

At the community-center social (The Flag Contest), Mirabeth uses an Assess the Situation roll of 9 to find the people most vulnerable to her: Addison, an exhausted, poor mother, and her miserable teenage son, whose flag she is critiquing line by line. While Derk tells the boy that Ovain is coming to kill the president, Mirabeth draws Addison aside and pitches the scheme. She guilt-trips her about her son's stress, and the pitch lands on the point that "the oil pyramid really kind of provides financial stability to working moms." Mirabeth rolls a 10 on Provoke Someone, and Addison pays a $400 down payment. (Philosopher's Fist)

Then her son runs over sobbing, "Mommy, I don't wanna get killed with the president." Having heard about the threat, Addison hurries him to the car, saying she will call Mirabeth about the oils. (Philosopher's Fist)

Trivia

  • It is one of Mirabeth's growing string of lies, alongside the lost earring, her "child psychology" credentials and the claim that Derk is 14.
  • Dante joked that the $400 made back Derk's hot dog money "plus interest."
