The Biz's Buick Regal¶
The Biz's Buick Regal is the 1986 Buick that Dick "The Biz" Baxter drives in The Summer Service, first as the carrier of a severed arm and later as a roof-cut mount for the Davy Crockett.
| Type | Item (vehicle) |
| Aliases | 1986 Buick Regal; the Biz's car; mobile artillery; modified vehicle |
| Holder | The Biz (owner) |
| First appearance | Summer Service 01 |
Description¶
An ordinary mid-80s sedan with a long, flat trunk. The Biz has money problems and car payments, and he jokes about letting the car be repossessed (Summer Service 01). The make and model are not given until Summer Service 04, when Ezra settles on a 1986 Buick Regal after Andre suggests an '89 and a joke about a Pinto (Summer Service 04).
Properties¶
In Summer Service 04 the team modifies it into an improvised fighting vehicle. Two legs of the Davy Crockett tripod sit on the trunk and a third goes through a hole cut in the roof. The roof hole later leaks, leaving several inches of water on the floor in the storm (Summer Service 04, Summer Service 05).
History¶
- The arm's hearse. After the team finds the severed arm on the beach, it is bagged and sealed in a cooler with ice and put in the Biz's trunk with the windows down. The smell soaks into the car, and the repossession jokes become a running gag (Summer Service 01).
- Mobile artillery. When Carter's crate arrives at the post office, Kurt asks whether the Biz's car has been repossessed yet; it is still on the side of the road, and he commandeers it as an improvised fighting vehicle. The Biz tells him he is done with it. Kurt and Huell spend three to four hours mounting the weapon on it at a disused gas station on the edge of town (see Abandoned gas station). The Buick is then hidden under a tarp behind the station, while the roughly 60 lb W54 warhead goes back to the hotel (Summer Service 04).
- The hotel siege. During the storm the team abandons the RV behind the gas station and takes back the modified car with the Davy Crockett on it. Its leaking roof soaks the floor, and the car smells terrible (Summer Service 05).
- The finale. In Summer Service 06 the team drives a car they commandeered, and Kurt teaches them to fire the weapon from its back seat. Andre narrates that the team is glad it did not take the Biz's Buick through the flooded roads. The team's own FBI car is spotted among the infected convoy (Summer Service 06).
Trivia¶
- When the Biz spots the FBI car in the convoy, Andre first calls it "the Lincoln" and then corrects himself, which confuses Ezra, who thought his car was a Buick. Dante remarks he is glad they took the Davy Crockett off it. Andre clarifies that the car in the convoy is the FBI car, not the Biz's, and Ezra concludes it is "not the one that had it". No episode shows how the weapon moved from the Buick to the team's other vehicles; it happened between Summer Service 05 and 06, which includes the unrecorded Summer Service 05.5.
