Overview

When the team came out of the shaft, white powder had fallen like snow and everyone outside was on the ground, unconscious. Black craft swooped overhead, and the killdozer hung in a tree as the community center slid into a sinkhole. As the team drove away in a Humvee, still naked, they saw dozens of people in hazmat suits loading up and cleaning up the bodies. Andrew Howard took a few dozen blurry Polaroids of the hazmat crews with several indistinct black aircraft circling overhead. Zack asked whether the craft were triangular, and Andre said yes (Walkers 09). See Black triangular craft.

History

Using the longer-range radio in an armored personnel carrier, Kurt Larson reported to the National Guard outpost in Salt Lake City that there was a cover-up the team had not caused: hazmat teams and unidentified craft kidnapping personnel in addition to the victims, and the area drug-seeded to knock everyone out. Huell said it would be in his report (Walkers 09).

The Roulet Estate arc refers back to Utah. In the opening scene, CDC-style personnel in hazmat suits bring casualties into a medical tent at the edge of Roosevelt, and Andre notes that searchers had found no sign of "the hazmat troops that you people saw". The cover story given for the disaster was that a cult had built a compound under the community center and embezzled funds for an uprising, ending in a Jonestown-style mass killing. Later in the arc, Rita (as Andrew) wonders aloud whether the team was lured out by "whoever did the cleanup after in Utah" (Roulet Estate 01). Andrew also carries three Polaroids from Ballard.

What remains unknown

  • Who commands the teams, and whether they are linked to the black craft.
  • Who spread the powder.
