Bridge blockade

The bridge blockade is the barricade at a creek bridge on the only road out of the Ballard and Roosevelt area, held by twenty to twenty-five armed skinwalkers in stolen police uniforms, which keeps the task force and the towns' residents from reaching the outside world.

Description

A bridge over a creek carries the only road out. A barrier of about a dozen cars, a few of them overturned, plus an ambulance, cars with police lights, and some horses, blocks it. About twenty to twenty-five heavily armed people man it, most dressed as cops in what looks like uniforms and body armor taken from the police station. The next town, Bridgeland, is 23 miles away, and Salt Lake City is 141 (Walkers 08). The creek could be crossed by car off-road, but only with difficulty, and climbing the far embankment would be a last resort.

History of events there

Scouting. After finding Roosevelt's police dead and its cars gone, the team drives a couple of miles toward Bridgeland in a two-car convoy with Betsy in front. Kurt parks well back and creeps up on foot, rolling an 11 on Act Under Pressure, and sees the blockade diverting traffic and turning people back (Walkers 08). As the team leaves, the blockade turns around a FedEx truck.

Conclusions. From this the players conclude that the world beyond the town is probably normal, that Ballard is "a dead town", and that Roosevelt is being replaced person by person, starting with the police. They reason that the cops' cars must be tied up at the blockade. They consider fetching the rest of Bigelow's security force from the ranch, using Ballard's radio station, or trying the road east toward Vernal, and drive back toward Ballard (Walkers 08).

Unrecorded session

The session between Walkers 08 and Walkers 09 was never recorded. In the recap that opens Walkers 09, Andre says the team got horses to get around the roadblock, took a generator to the radio station and called the National Guard, met the Guard on horseback outside town, and fought through the road barricade between Ballard and Roosevelt before breaching and clearing the police station. The recap does not describe the fight, and it does not say whether this barricade is the same as the bridge. See Lost episodes.

Inhabitants

Armed skinwalkers in police uniforms: the same faction that massacred the Roosevelt police. The blockaders are not fought on-screen in a recorded session.
