The Roulet Intruder¶
The Roulet Intruder is the naked, spindly figure who snipes at the task force from the woods around the Roulet house, lives in a hidden chimney attic, steals the agents' car and is finally unmasked at the Brooks Pharmacy as a drug-ravaged man in a foam-latex alien mask.

Description¶
The figure is tall, pale, hairless and naked, with an unnaturally large head, large oval black eyes, long spindly fingers and a long, spindly physique. At the pharmacy Andre adds that he is circumcised and has tattoos. The agents note that the proportions looked unnatural; Dante remarks that it would be "hard to be a guy in a suit, physically." While reviewing the case, Zack shared paintings by David Huggins as a visual reference for the Grey face. The face never changes expression, but its body language shows shock when its shot fails to hurt Andrew. (Roulet Estate 01, Roulet Estate 02, Roulet Estate 03)
Later Andrew realizes that the figure he saw in the woods had nipples, which contradicts what he believes about Greys. He tells the police it was shirtless, pale and bald. (Roulet Estate 02)
History¶
Roulet Estate 01: the sniper¶
Kurt and the Biz spot a classic gray-alien face poking over the crest of the roof, which ducks out of sight. After a car window is shot out and a monk tackles Andrew to safety, the party chases a naked, spindly, long-limbed figure east through the woods. It moves erratically and Andrew cannot keep his eyes on it. It picks up a VSS rifle and shoots Huell in the shin (2 harm). It then takes careful aim and shoots Andrew in the face, and Andrew takes no harm. The figure flees to a river where the trail ends, and Andrew finds that it has abandoned the rifle. Andrew later finds that the car's battery is missing. (Roulet Estate 01)
Roulet Estate 02: the attic¶
The episode opens on a nude man with an unnaturally shaped head, a bed sheet wrapped around his shoulders, loading shotgun shells one at a time in a dark, dusty space. This is the Hidden Attic Lair. (Roulet Estate 02)
While the agents are in the Roulet Basement, they hear wheels spinning outside and see a gray alien drive off in their car around the corner of the driveway. The battery has evidently been put back in. Searching the house, Kurt and Andrew climb the chimney passages and find the lair. Andre tells them that someone has probably been living there for at least a year without the owners' knowledge, entering every major room by chimney. The lair held cigarettes, a cot, MREs, looted guns, a briefcase of money that looks abruptly abandoned mid-packing, beta blockers with the label scraped off, a jar of green slurry in which Kurt finds peyote, and a blood-crusted butterfly knife in an ornate case. The photos of sleepers give Andrew a strong serial-killer vibe. In the basement, the agents had also found a jar of cocoa-butter lotion with a hand-shaped scoop taken out of it. (Roulet Estate 02)
The party debates whether the culprit is an alien, a human serial killer, or both, noting that several of them saw a gray alien, which Dante calls a "weirdly consistent hallucination." Ezra says, "what I wouldn't give to just investigate a regular serial killer right now." The local police issue an APB on the stolen car. (Roulet Estate 02)
Roulet Estate 03: the siege¶
The cold open shows the gray alien at the wheel of the stolen car in slushy snow, a black nine-millimeter pistol in his left hand, tuning the radio to "Radar Love". He takes hostages at the Brooks Pharmacy, shoots a pharmacist non-fatally, kills the young balding cop with a rifle shot, and demands a Range Rover and that all cops strip and surrender. He carries a Mosin-Nagant and claims to have a rocket-propelled grenade. (Roulet Estate 03)
The Biz shoots first from the drop ceiling to save Kurt, hits the gunman in the shoulder, and is shot through the thigh (3 harm), falling out of the ceiling. Huell tackles the gunman and is shot through the foot (3 harm). Kurt, naked himself, ties the gunman's hands with his own underwear and then reinforces it with Huell's handcuffs. He notices a seam around the gunman's neck. Police tear a foam-latex mask off his head, revealing a skinny man with herpes blisters around his mouth and "meth-head hair". Dante exclaims, "I fucking knew a Grey wouldn't be circumcised." (Roulet Estate 03)
As police lead him to the squad car he begins to crumple, and Kurt guesses that he needs beta blockers, like those in the attic. The pharmacist confirms that the man had hunted for them in the back and never found the supply. Police have a pharmacist fetch him some, and he is put in the car before the ambulance arrives. What remains unknown¶
- The man's name and motive are never stated.
- Whether he killed the Roulets, though the attic lair, the looted guns and the beta blockers tie him to the house.
- Who the people in the older attic Polaroids are; see Attic Polaroids.
- Whether the "visitations" the Roulets recorded were his doing.
- Where he got the mask.
