Minor characters: Philosopher's Fist 3.J/2: Unchainable (non-canon one-shot)¶
Non-canon
These characters appear only in Philosopher's Fist 3.J/2: Unchainable, a non-canon one-shot presented as an in-universe anime OVA. Nothing here is part of the main campaign's continuity.
Minor characters of the one-shot who do not have their own pages, in alphabetical order. For the principal cast, see Mirabeth, Derk, Colonel Sparago, Ovain, Delta, Miguel and Addison.
Addison's Son¶
The miserable teenage son of the exhausted Addison, still working on a bad flag for the children's event while his mother hovers and critiques every line. Derk compliments the flag and then cheerfully tells him that Ovain is coming to kill the president. The boy hyperventilates, then sobs quietly, and runs to his mother crying, "Mommy, I don't wanna get killed with the president." He leaves with her soon after. (Philosopher's Fist)
Anna¶
Mirabeth's daughter, who wanted to be a ballerina and refused the family hero "legacy." The disagreement caused a big fight, and Mirabeth was thrown out of Anna's ninth birthday party. Anna is mentioned only in Mirabeth's backstory and never appears. (Philosopher's Fist)
Derk's Father¶
An alien royal who left the five-year-old Derk on a high-gravity planet for what he intended as a few months. It turned out to be fourteen years, during which Derk survived on scorpions. Introducing Derk, Dante joked that his father might have died in a war or gone to pick up cigarettes. The father never appears, and Derk's mother is said to have died when he was little ("I think"). (Philosopher's Fist)
Library Staff¶
The staff of the capital's Public Library. They ask Derk to use his "inside voice" and sit him in the children's room among the toddlers. After he eats nearly half the snack table, they call child services and Animal Control about a "shaved baboon." The detective who later questions Mirabeth says the Animal Control call ended in a riot. (Philosopher's Fist)
Mirabeth's Nemesis¶
A slightly older rival from before Mirabeth became a mentor, now living in a retirement home. She is mentioned in Mirabeth's backstory and never seen. (Philosopher's Fist)
Moraniel¶
Spokesman of the Alien Faction at the safety briefing. When Derk approaches, Moraniel introduces himself, asks Derk what he is, concludes he is a lost child and shoos him back toward his "state appointed" guardian, Mirabeth. As Derk leaves, he overhears the group say that they need standards on who counts as an alien and that Derk looks like a stepped-on Gandekian. (Philosopher's Fist)
Roped-Area Guards¶
Guards posted at the roped-off marble floor of the Presidential Event Hall. One says he has heard nothing about the heroes, and the other suggests calling for confirmation, but both freeze when Mirabeth uses Symbol of Authority and says the president wants "inconspicuous" heroes. One later asks Derk to show his kung fu, hands him a quarter, and wishes him "Godspeed" after Derk bends it. (Philosopher's Fist)
Sarah¶
A kind girl of about fourteen at the pre-event social. She tells Derk that the bully is a jerk, introduces herself, and offers to show him her own flag. (Philosopher's Fist)
The Bully¶
A teenager at the social who tells Derk he looks "super fucked up," insults his intelligence and stomps off after calling him weird. Derk misses the point of the insult, and Sarah befriends him instead. The bully is never named. (Philosopher's Fist)
The Detective¶
A grizzled old detective who interviews Mirabeth during the long debriefing after the Ovain fight. He asks how she got Derk into the flag competition and whether she had anything to do with the Animal Control call to the library, and he tells her that the call ended in a riot. (Philosopher's Fist)
The Monk¶
An older, heavyset woman martial-arts monk, deputized alongside the Secret Service on the morning of the presidential event. She recognizes Mirabeth and is on mostly unfriendly terms with her, though she does not hate her. After Mirabeth rolls a 12 on Pierce the Mask, the monk's shoulders slump, and she lets Mirabeth's presence pass and tells the other monks. (Philosopher's Fist)
The Wand Guard¶
A chubby, older, profusely sweating security guard at the door of the event hall. He scans Derk with the superhuman-and-metal wand, getting a "tink, tank" off his head, and forgets to scan Mirabeth. Inside, she sweet-talks him into lending her the wand, which she uses to convince the roped-area guards. He is left standing nervously ("It's my job, man"), and Colonel Sparago later says that Mirabeth used "sexual wiles" on a man who has been struggling lately. (Philosopher's Fist)
Weasel-Man Trainer and Lizard-Man Protege¶
An elderly weasel-man trainer and his enormous lizard-man protege, glimpsed in the crowd at the safety briefing. Mirabeth has been handing her business cards to other trainers' fighters, and the trainer puts his body between her and the protege and shuffles him into the tent. (Philosopher's Fist)
Wisukonshin McDonald's Staff¶
The workers at a McDonald's in Wisukonshin, where the lost Derk ends up. Derk goes in to ask where he is, and they tell him and give him a package of nuts because he looks so sad. (Philosopher's Fist)
