Minor organizations: Radford (The Radford Horror and The Radford Horrors)

This page lists the minor groups, businesses and institutions of the two Radford arcs.

Ferry Lodge management

Under "new management", the Ferry Lodge has been remodeled with payphones, brighter lights, new windows, hot tubs, a pool and a mud-mask spa, yet it stays half empty. The owners are secretive and snooty, refuse to hire locals, and are the subject of an eight-month fraud investigation; IRS Criminal Investigations raids the lodge as the team watches. It is never established whether the management is connected to the Safe Environment Fund or the lawyers who threaten those asking about the missing. (Radford Horrors 02, Radford Horrors 04) See IRS Criminal Investigations.

Garland Air Conditioning Repair

Garland Air Conditioning Repair is the business of PTA dad Toby Garland, mentioned when he chats with Kurtis at the school science fair. (Radford Horrors 01) See Toby Garland.

Highway Patrol and state police

The highway patrol and state police respond to the APB in Radford Horror 06, rescue Dr. Lori from his kidnapper and hold Derek Augustine at their station. In Radford Horror 07 Rita notes that Highway Patrol has "that one guy", a lead the team postpones to the next day. (Radford Horror 06, Radford Horror 07) See Derek Augustine and Dr. Lawrence Lori.

Lawson family

The Lawsons are Dean's parents, who cannot be reached and own the stone-and-timber cabin near the ski lodge. A voice at the Stately Acres call box says they use it as a summer place. (Radford Horror 06, Radford Horror 07) See Dean Lawson and Lawson cabin.

Mr. King's organization

Mr. King's organization is a cosmic-leaning group awaiting "the next master" and fighting the "forces of silence" that cover up the cosmic. In a flashback, Mr. King tells Andrew that the next master is coming and that Andrew is "the tip of the spear". The organization is not named in the scene. (Radford Horror 01) See Mr. King and The Masters.

Narconon

Narconon is named in the letters of the missing people as a supposed Los Angeles addiction center; in the first conversation Sheriff Molly Underhill calls it a rehab in California "like Narconon". It permits no visitors, which the team finds suspicious, and the FBI agrees to research it. (Radford Horrors 02, Radford Horrors 04) See LA treatment cover story.

Oral surgeons' convention

An oral surgeons' convention, a running joke ("tooth botherers", "Tooth Doc conference"), fills the Ferry Lodge and forces the team into the Pay n' Stay. (Radford Horror 01, Radford Horror 05) See Pay n' Stay.

Radford church community

The congregation of the Radford church hosts the 4:30 p.m. community meeting, announced by Molly, at which the curfew is explained. The priest gives the closing sermon and townsfolk ask about a serial killer and about dogs. (Radford Horror 05) See Curfew and community meeting.

Stately Acres management company

The property-management company that runs the gated mountain community of Stately Acres employs Douglas Douglas under company-store conditions. (Radford Horror 07) See Stately Acres and Douglas Douglas.

The scary lawyers

The scary lawyers are an anonymous law firm that threatens anyone investigating the missing people, including Phoebe's supposed rehab. Their phone number is on the missing posters Molly gives the team. Lawyers also follow the team with cameras at the Safe Environment Fund site, though it is never established that these are the same lawyers. (Radford Horrors 02) See Safe Environment Fund.
