Description¶
Andre reads the note aloud to the table in Walkers 06: "Something bad is happening in this town. Some of your friends aren't who you think. I know you aren't one of them; you have angels. I have a list of them. I've seen things. I can show it to you. Come to the school gym at 1 a.m. The lock is taped over so the kids can weed in there. Don't bring the others. I won't come in if you bring the others." (Walkers 06)
History¶
In Walkers 06 Andrew shows the note to the team. Kurt and Huell both deny writing it, and Huell, who has just come back from a meeting in Ballard where nobody turned up, offers Andrew the P90. Andrew declines it. Rita's Andrew insists that angels are real but not understood, "something else that we call angels because we don't really comprehend what their physical bodies are," while Ezra's Biz cannot bear to hear that they are not. Andrew decides to go. Kurt suggests the team drive him part of the way and wait within earshot, and Andrew agrees to walk the last stretch. (Walkers 06)
In Walkers 07 Andrew checks his wallet and keys, takes his camera, pepper spray, pistol, satchel and medallion, and goes to Ballard High School with Huell Kendrick parked a few blocks away as a "chaperone." Andre sends the other players out of the scene. A line of yellow light shows under the gym door and the latch is taped over, as the note promised. Inside, Andrew finds no informant. Two horses standing on their hind legs flank the door, and a man sitting on a stool turns out to be Andrew Howard himself. Armed townspeople file in behind the double, who says "We can do this the easy way or the hard way." Andrew guesses at once that they intend to replace him. (Walkers 07)
The note thus worked as a trap, but no episode says who wrote it. When Andrew returns to the team, the Walkers 07 recap simply lists it among the earlier events. (Walkers 07)
Table talk
Rita played the real Andrew through the gym scene in Walkers 07. When the scene ends, Andre has the duplicate take Andrew's place, and Rita plays the duplicate from the team's return onward, without the other players knowing. The genuine Andrew is not seen again until the end of Walkers 08, when Andre cuts to him waking at the bottom of the morgue pile.
Unresolved¶
- Who wrote the note, and whether the "list" it mentions ever existed.
- Whether the "angels" line was bait invented by the double's faction or refers to something real about Andrew; no later episode picks it up.
