Monica Cartwright is the alcoholic mother of the missing boy Gene Cartwright, who tells the task force about off-season Jeep hunters and a naked, hairy figure resembling Chewbacca.

Description¶
Monica is gruff and blunt. The team finds her in her trailer with wine bottles on the couch, offering them warm white wine and spraying a noisy air conditioner with WD-40. She admits she was drunk when she saw the hairy figure (Appalachia 04).
History¶
The players chose to visit "dead kid mom" before the Covenant. Monica deflated when the agents said they had not found her son, and she said she had already talked to the police. She told them Gene had been playing in the woods with the Nick boy (Edward Nick), who started screaming his head off; when she ran out, Gene was gone, and she searched for days. The only people she saw were men in a Jeep, dressed in gray jumpsuits and sunglasses, carrying shotguns, with a big cage in the back. She took them for drunk off-season hunters, and they told her to leave.
She added that about a month earlier a naked, hairy figure who looked "exactly like Chewbacca" stood at the end of her driveway with a backpack, as if on a smoke break, until a regular-sized black sedan pulled up and he got in the back. Sheriff Burke brushed her off, telling her she was drunk, and she admitted she was. She asked whether the agents had found "that cult lady" (Willow Greengrass) and whether they thought it was related. As they left she told them, "Don't come back unless you find my son." Outside, the team agreed Gene was almost certainly dead, since his shoe had been found in a tree (Appalachia 04). Her Chewbacca figure is later tied to the costume found in the mines (see The Bigfoot Hoax).
