Description

Roosevelt sits right next to Ballard, a couple of miles away, and has about six thousand people. It has a police department, a diner, a grocery store, a dentist, a hospital with an emergency room, a repair shop and a theater-loving drama teacher (Walkers 04, Walkers 05). Tow trucks have to come from Duchesne.

Notable places within

  • East Lagoon Street. Where the Voyager is found pancaked and fused into the road (Walkers 04).
  • Good Hills Diner. A busy diner where the team eats French toast while waiting for the police (Walkers 04).
  • Roosevelt police station.
  • Stewart's. A small grocery with its own egg-based ice cream, where an elderly clerk thanks them for not patronizing the Dollar Tree "interloper" (Walkers 05).
  • The dentist. A spare-room practice where the Biz has his lost fillings replaced with gold, the only material on hand that is non-magnetic (Walkers 05).
  • The hospital. A small hospital with a generator for a ventilator patient; its ambulance and radio have been stolen (Walkers 08). The naked intruder dies on a heart-lung machine in its emergency room (Walkers 07).

History of events there

The car. The rental Plymouth Voyager reappears on East Lagoon Street, backing up morning traffic. A call to Hertz leads the team there, and Officer Hernandez of the Roosevelt Police Department arranges for them to borrow Betsy. The wreck is peeled off the asphalt with some of it left behind (Walkers 04). The later "heat-and-magnet beam" is found to launch objects along a line pointing toward Roosevelt, suggesting the same force is behind both (Walkers 06, Walkers 07).

The confession. The police pressure junkyard owner Yusuf Ansari into a false confession (Walkers 05, Walkers 06).

Mid-replacement. On the morning after the gym fire, Roosevelt has traffic lights out, no cars anywhere and confused people on foot. A resident says the power went out, his car was stolen, and nobody answers at the police station. Mechanics report that every drivable car was stolen and the rest sabotaged by hand. The police are dead, and the team concludes the town is being replaced person by person, starting with the police (Walkers 08). See Skinwalker faction.

The launched farmhouse. In Walkers 09 the ranch farmhouse leaves in a vapor trail, launched in the direction of Roosevelt, and Andre notes that the team is not between it and the town. Most of Roosevelt's cars are piled up inside the community center's fence.

Inhabitants

The Roosevelt police, Officer Hernandez, the dentist, the junkyard owner Yusuf, and ordinary residents who are being replaced. After the finale the fate of the town is not shown.
