History¶
Radford Horror 01¶
While Andrew's boss at the FBI warns him that leading the task force "has boondoggle written all over it," the episode cuts to a flashback of an earlier conversation in another office. Mr. King tells Andrew that at the FBI he will find himself in the midst of people all committed to a common purpose, "like standing in the middle of an anthill," and that it would be easy to get caught up in the secular bustle and act as if it were his purpose too. "But it isn't. Not entirely. You serve a higher purpose."
He goes on to say that the next master is coming, "maybe next year, maybe in three or four, but not ten," and that whether this is a triumph or a tragedy depends on how well the organization opens the minds of secular people to "his truth and his laws." Andrew's purpose is to help the organization "fight back against the forces of silence that would cover up the influences of the cosmic to protect the petty mundane." He calls Andrew "the tip of the spear." As he leaves, he adds the line below (Radford Horror 01).
Andre (as Mr. King)
Andrew, Jesus and the Buddha were not wholly of this world, and neither are you. Remember that.
Radford Horror 08¶
Recovering after the fight at the church, Andrew's mother wants to visit him in D.C.; Rita, as Andrew, tells her over the phone to "talk to Mr. King," that it is all part of the plan. Later in the same scene Andre says Andrew's mother thinks he should go to more church social functions, and asks "What's his name? Kingsley?" The episode does not make clear whether this is the same man (Radford Horror 08). See The Masters.
Trivia¶
- Mr. King is never seen outside the flashback, and the episodes do not say what the organization is, who the "forces of silence" are, or whether he has any connection to the task force's creation.
