Gray-skinned dream visitor¶
The gray-skinned dream visitor is a nude, dead, deformed gray man who appears in Andrew Howard's sleep-paralysis dream to warn him away from the water.

Description¶
Pool-water caustics swirl across Andrew's ceiling and he is paralyzed. A nude man with gray skin squats at the foot of the bed. His skull is swollen, with a seam between the halves that throbs along the crest, and his eyes are large and bloodshot. He is gentle, near tears and apologetic (Summer Service 03).
History¶
The visitor apologizes for "all the stuff that's gonna happen to you," says Andrew's friends seem nice, and repeatedly tells him to stay away from the water. He says "they damaged it" and that "it can't cool itself anymore," and asks whether Andrew is high enough in his government to order a nuclear strike, which "might work." He adds "I wish I wasn't dead," asks Andrew to hug his mom for him, kisses him on the lips and vanishes. Andrew then dreams of losing his bingo card at a high school function until his pager wakes him. Andre has Andrew roll for dread; Rita rolls a 7 and Andrew takes 5 dread (Summer Service 03).
Andrew tells no one about the dream. Rita explains at the table that he is desperately pretending it never happened, wondering whether the visitor was his dad, whether his dad is an alien, and why the visitor kissed him on the mouth (Summer Service 03).
Unresolved¶
- The visitor's identity. He says he is dead.
- Whether the "it" that "can't cool itself" is the humming lit vessel the team saw on the dive. The episodes never say; see The angel thing.
- The visitor says "It's not like the bug thing", which may refer to the Radford moth. See The Radford Moth.
