Description

The station is small. An older woman works the front desk. Burke's office has animal heads and guns on the wall (Appalachia 04). The break room is the only room with a phone line, and Burke uses a 1980s speakerphone there. The evidence locker holds the case's only physical evidence in the opening sessions (Appalachia 01).

History of events there

Appalachia 01. The team arrived after a ten-hour drive. The older woman at the front desk said Burke was in the restroom with IBS, and he emerged about twenty minutes later. He called Andrew "Detective Howard," and showed through the bars of the evidence locker the one piece of evidence in Willow Greengrass's case, a bag of peaches found in the woods; see Bag of Peaches. He offered the FBI its own forensic examination of it, and the team decided to bring in Donald McManley (Appalachia 01).

Appalachia 03. The station was mobilising a search for the missing German boy Frederick when the team arrived. When Kurt reported a lighter with initials and a fair amount of blood in the forest, the sheriff said they would address it after the search ("That's too many people going missing") (Appalachia 03).

Appalachia 04. Burke called the team in for a "man-to-man": five missing people in two days, and the FBI had arrived before it was clear there were even two. He demanded to know what they knew, asked them not to affect his tourism, and bristled when told the peach product was hallucinogenic. Kurt suggested a curfew and a cover story about a fatal tick-borne disease. Burke cleared the break room for a speakerphone call with Frederick's mother and an FBI translator (Appalachia 04).

Appalachia 07. The team planned to fax their itinerary to Big Bill from the station, listing the places they had been and "the embarrassing number of times we have gone to Spud Hut," and leaving out the Biz's sleep-sprinting and Andrew's nightmare (Appalachia 07).
