Plastic-wrapped bodies

The plastic-wrapped bodies are human-shaped bundles wrapped in plastic that recur through The Walkers in Skin: moving figures in two cold opens, putrefied corpses packed in white powder in the ceiling of the Ballard gym, and a huge pile of salted bodies in the Roosevelt morgue.

Description

Cold-open figures

The cold open of Walkers 03 is a long, slow zoom through a dark, dusty, crowded industrial space of wires and pipes, lit only by thin shafts of light from below, with the distant sound of people shouting and talking. The camera passes rows and rows of human-shaped figures wrapped in clear plastic; as it approaches the last one, the figure moves slightly, and the show cuts to credits.

The cold open of Walkers 04 shows a pale, obese man in a desert trailer with a human-shaped figure wrapped in something shiny propped up in the other chair, out of focus. The man lets fine gray tendrils spool from his mouth onto a plate of Jell-O. See Doug.

The gym-ceiling bodies

In Walkers 07, after the grenade explosion in the gym of Ballard High School, part of the burning ceiling gives way and drops a tube of melted plastic wrapped in a spiral, "like a spring roll." The smell is overwhelming, like "a really, really bad fridge." Huell unrolls it and finds a fairly putrefied corpse in a pile of white powder; more bundles fall from the ceiling. Reporting back, Huell describes dead bodies with white powder on them, and Kurt asks whether it is lye or salt. Having smelled it on Huell, Kurt concludes that whatever is going on has been under way for at least a few months. See Disappearances in Ballard and white powder.

The morgue piles

In Walkers 08 the party finds "where the bodies from the library ceiling went" (Andre's slip for the gym) in the morgue of the Roosevelt police station: dozens and dozens of bodies wrapped in plastic and piled everywhere, with fluid leaking onto the floor. Many are too decomposed to identify, and some are missing fingers or toes. It looks as though someone covered them in rock salt and wrapped them in plastic, with poor results. Rita later notes that the skinwalkers' utility bags hold guns, plastic and bungee cords, matching the sheet plastic on the ceiling bodies. Andrew Howard, killed earlier, wakes naked and bound in plastic and duct tape at the bottom of this pile, as the Monstrous. See skinwalkers and Roosevelt police station.

What remains unknown

Why the cold-open figures are wrapped and why the last one in the Walkers 03 opening moves is never explained on screen. The players assume the gym and morgue bodies are the missing townspeople and students, but no episode confirms it.
